EVANS CHUANG is an established pianist and has won numerous competitions throughout New Zealand, including the Irene Lassen Award, Ruby Hay Pianoforte Scholarship and the IRMT Young Musician of the year. He has also received three prominent High Achiever Awards from the Dame Malvina Major Foundation and a scholarship from the Adastra Foundation.
Evans holds a Master of Music from the University of Auckland and was awarded a Partnership Appeal Award from The University of Auckland and received first class honours for a Bachelor of Music Honours degree. Evans also holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Canterbury, where he was awarded the John Emeleus Prize in Keyboard Musicianship and the Ernest Empson Scholarship.
Evans is also a qualified classroom teacher of music and drama and has a Graduate Diploma in Teaching from Victoria University of Wellington.
As an active chamber musician, Evans has performed and toured professionally for Chamber Music New Zealand. Evans has also been appointed as an accompanist for The University of Auckland, University of Canterbury, National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art, and the New Zealand Opera School.
Evans relocated to Newcastle, Australia in early 2019 and is looking forward to connecting with the music community in New South Wales and the rest of Australia.
